American Red Cross Call For Volunteers

Historically, hurricane seasons peak in early September and the American Red Cross wants to onboard more service-driven individuals to carry out life-saving missions when disaster strikes.

The organizers also said that they need more volunteers largely because of the COVID-19 pandemic. They also added that the pandemic hurt the organization’s normal recruiting habits and tactics.

“With the corona-virus, we’re expecting a lot of our longtime volunteers are reaching an age or have health concerns about volunteering,” Lisa Colby, Executive Director of the Upstate Chapter of the American Red Cross, said.

If you are 18 years old or older and you have the heart to volunteer and to help others in disaster recovery, casework or staff in temporary evacuation centers, the organization needs you.

The organization is particularly looking for volunteers with health care or mental health care background but all who apply are welcomed.

The organization said that training is streamlined and sign up can be done online.
