Greenville’s Newest Barbecue Restaurant Opens This Week

The long wait is finally over! This week marks the long-awaited opening of the renowned Central Texas-style barbecue restaurant in Greenville.

Lewis Barbecue Greenville is set to open at 214 Rutherford St., the former home of Tommy’s Ham House. Owner Tommy Stevenson even gave Lewis his blessing in a public ceremony in 2021.

The grand opening is scheduled for September 14 and will initially be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Later in the fall, the restaurant will be open daily.

After more than six years in Charleston, South Carolina, Lewis Barbecue has finally made its way to Greenville, South Carolina, to provide barbecue lovers in Greenville with another restaurant to try.

Pitmaster John Lewis expressed his excitement about the restaurant’s opening in Greenville, “The Lewis Barbecue team is thrilled to be opening in Greenville. We’ve already received incredible support from the Upstate community, and we are really looking forward to sharing a taste of Texas barbecue in such a vibrant food-focused community. “

The Lewis Barbecue team worked with designer Betsy Berry of B.Berry Interiors and LGM Architects for over a year to renovate the space into an establishment that follows the aesthetics of their signature Central Texas-inspired barbecue restaurant.

Menu items include Lewis’ now-famous brisket, smoked meats, and sides like green chile corn pudding and cowboy pinto beans, as well as daily specials like chicken-fired steak and prime rib dinner. The Greenville location will also provide a distinctive bar program with a sizable selection of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails.
