The New Senior Action Greenville Facility Opens In May

Senior Action will open its new 35,000-square-foot Greenville headquarters on Monday, May 3.

The new headquarters, which is near the intersection of East North Street and Howell Road, is twice the size of the previous HQ, which had been home to Senior Action since 2007.

The organization invested $7.6 million for the shopping center where the new space is located and plans to lease some of the other units to help finance its programs.

“We outgrew our old building years ago,” says Andrea Smith, CEO & Executive Director of Senior Action. “One in six Americans is over the age of 55. There are more than 84,000 seniors right here in Greenville County, and Greenville is considered one of the best places to retire in the U.S. In order to continue addressing the ever-changing needs of our growing senior population, we had to find more space.”

The following are some of the highlights of the new building:

  • An expanded fitness studio with exercise equipment + rooms for health and wellness classes
  • A conference center that can seat up to 400 people
  • A fine arts center with music, art, and movement studios
  • Plenty of level, accessible parking
  • Potters’ wheels + a kiln

The organization offers a range of educational programs, fitness classes, and social events, as well as medical transportation, lawn care, home-delivered meals, affordable housing, and daily lunch. They expect to add a lot of new programs and extend evening hours in the coming months.

Senior Action is a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping adults over 55 active, healthy, and involved in meaningful activities and has been serving Greenville County since 1967 and currently supports approximately 5,000 seniors through 8 areas in the county.
